‘Mongol’ means prosperity and growth. In Bengal, Lord Laxmi is the presiding deity of wealth, prosperity and growth. So this model has been decorated using elements associated with the goddess. Alpona or traditional decorative patterns created on occasions has been used to decorate the body and lower end of the lamp. On the neck individual stems of grain has been drawn. The area also contains clay representation of an object the goddess regularly carries. Shade is made from gamcha, a common textile form in Bengal. Since the lamp is handmade there can be some variation between models. The lamp comes along with the shade which is also available in red white combination.
